Playing Descent 3 online is quite easy.
Once you've bought the game and installed it, simply follow these steps to find
some ships to destroy.
Patch
- Download the 1.4 patch
- Install it
Configure
- Start the D3 Launcher (Start, Programs, Descent 3, Descent 3)
- Click Setup
- Click "Network" tab
- Ensure "LAN/Direct Connection" and "T1, ADSL, T3, etc." are selected
Skipping the step above will likely result in servers automatically kicking
you out due to incorrect network settings.
Get Levels
- Go to our D3 missions section
- Choose "Popular"
- Download all of the files there and extract the contents to your
c:\games\descent3\missions
directory
Find Games
Option 1
- Visit our game tracker and bookmark
it
- Click on a server you'd like to join
- Check the settings on the page and click "Join Game"
Option 2
- Download Vortex
- Install it
- Run it
- Click Settings
- Click D3 Settings
- Ensure Retail v1.4 is pointing to C:\Games\Descent3\main.exe
- Click Save
- Click "D3 Serverlist" at the top and pick a server to join!
If everything is good, you will be thrown into the game and insanity will ensue.
